I’m Zaneta Trent and gardening isn’t just a hobby for me—it’s my way of life.
My journey began in a cohort program in Howard County, Maryland, where I fell in love with the idea of planting a seed that grows into a seedling and flourishes into food to feed my family and friends. Also nurturing plants using only natural ingredients is what drives me as well because it is so good for the environment and for our wellbeing.
I garden using no pesticides or chemicals in my soil and mulch, every step I take honors the beauty of nature. Even when I face challenges, like pests on my produce, I turn to natural remedies to resolve them.
Each seed I plant holds the promise of something extraordinary. Watching it sprout, grow, and finally become food is nothing short of magical. There’s something deeply fulfilling about this process, and it fuels my creativity in ways I never imagined.
The vibrant colors of blooms and the intricate textures of leaves inspire my work as a traditional painter.
Over time, I expanded my artistic journey, transforming flowers and plants from my garden into unique, nature-inspired art pieces. The garden is my palette, and each creation celebrates the beauty of life itself.
These passions led to the creation of my business, Rooted & Refined. As a Gardening Specialist and Art Educator, I get to share my love for nature with families in outdoor settings. I guide them through hands-on gardening projects paired with creative activities that turn natural elements into beautiful works of art.
Every day feels like a new adventure, brimming with possibilities, as I help others connect with nature and explore their creativity.
